The State Geological Institute of Dionýz Štúr, founded in 1940, manages huge amount of spatial geological data. Most of them are accessible through specialised thematic GIS-map applications (http://infoportal.geology.sk/web/guest/mapovy-portal). "Geoportal IMK" (in the sense of integrated landscape management) is one of them - it is our web-based application for complex viewing, manipulation, querying, printing, analysing and reporting of geological GIS data. Viewing and overlay of external open source data (WMS, ArcGIS Map services and data in shapefile format) are also possible. The user does not need any geoinformation system (GIS), only an internet connection is required. Working with spatial data is fairly intuitive, the application is user friendly and runs on most of internet browsers.
In the presenatation the "Geoportal IMK" (GP IMK) application will be presented in the form of use-cases with accent on its reporting and analytical functionality.
GP IMK as Reporting tool
The Reporting Tool is the mostly used tool - it is a robust, sophisticated tool with custom inputs: user defined geometry or vector results of previous geoprocessing operations (SQL, watershed?, graphical selection of objects). The output of reporting is a structured PDF document with text information, graphs, legends, maps, and tables. The document includes an appropriate header with company logo, address, time of creation, content of document, legal notes. Information is created from tenths? of numerous raster and vector georeferenced layers from thematic areas: Location, Relief, Geology, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, Soils, Climate, Natural and Anthropogenic Risks.

GP IMK as Analytical tool
GP IMK provides many analytical, geostatistical and spatial tools. Most often used are the creation of vertical profile (which extracts information from a digital elevation model), the groundwater database and other optional datasets, such as the geological map 1:50 000), watershed (creates contribution area based on DEM 20x20m), modelling of contamination extension (based on DEM whereby contamination flows on its surface) and other useful statistical functionalities (for example basic statistics for entities selected by SQL commands or for spatialy selected sets of objects).
