The paper describes the progressive development of the Committee for Mineral Reserves International Reporting Standards (CRIRSCO), its purpose and objectives and its relationship with the aligned National Reporting Organisations (NROs), the international securities and stock exchanges and the International Council on Mining and Metals1 (ICMM).
The CRIRSCO International Reporting Template (the Template2) is a principle based classification system and reporting standard for public reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves. The paper describes the fundamental principles, the classification framework and the standard definitions, which underpin the Template and the aligned National Reporting Codes and Standards.
The challenges that face many countries, including that of meeting the competency requirement, when wishing to be aligned with CRIRSCO are discussed.
The paper concludes with a discussion of the challenges faced by CRIRSCO as an organisation, if it is to continue to expand its membership on a worldwide basis.
